Project: SECURITY IN GHANA (SING) PROJECT
Objective: ADDRESSING FARMER-HERDER CONFLICTS
Activities:
- Take inventory of farmer-herder conflicts in ten target communities
- Building the capacity of Assembly members to adopt and begin discussions towards enacting a bye-law to regulate and streamline the activities of farmers and herders
- Conduct two-day training for community monitors on community identity, conflict and conflict resolution strategies as well as violent extremism.
- Conduct training on peacebuilding, violent extremism, threats of terrorism and the effects of marginalization for stakeholders in target communities.
- Train religious leaders on the threats of terrorism, violence extremism and peaceful coexistence to build their capacities to educate worshipers.
- Engage communities on peaceful coexistence and violence prevention on radio.
- Monitoring visits to communities.
- Organize community-based sensitization on violent extremism, threats of terrorism and peaceful coexistence through the Karaga district Youth parliament.
- Organize football for peace activity that includes the Fulbe group to promote peaceful-coexistence.
- Use graphics to communicate peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders
